An unexpectedly good dinner
Not too long ago, P, ZC and I arranged to meet up at Harbourfront for the Chuang Yi comic fair.

While waiting for P to arrive, ZC and I somehow wandered over to the Poh Kim video store and found ourselves facing those Xedo VCDs. As if examining an alien specimen, we were both mesmerised and repulsed. We didn’t touch those boxes, of course–who knows what nasty stuff you could catch–but just imagine, the company making those, those, things was the harbinger of fear, sleepless nights and possible debt to the anime fans of SG.

When a boy joined us at the anime section of the store, I was quite worried that he might actually buy one of ‘em. Would I have to do something?

But thankfully, he left, and P arrived. Enough of pacing anxiously around Poh Kim.
Chuang Yi’s selection of manga for sale was quite limited, so the three of us decided on dinner at Bakerzin instead. Over a simple repast of curried rice, Xedo was the talk of the night. It’s amazing how much time you can spend discussing every aspect of a common enemy. ZC even shared a side-splitting analogy he had come up with, complete with farmers, wonder milk, dastardly businessmen and escapee cows.
Before long, almost three hours had passed and it was time to head home. Comforted, at least, that we would have fellow cell mates.
